This Saturday we had an Easter class complete with chocolate eggs for the humans and treats for the dogs. But in my usual style, the class had to earn it We had egg and spoon races, tunnel ball and games of Simon says! The one thing I’ve discovered about Simon says is that it’s like being God when you are Simon! You can make the class do almost anything!

The aim of the day was to educate owners on how and why aggression occurs in a dog, how to recognize the signs of aggression and how to go about beginning to fix it. Everyone including myself took a lot away from the day.

Royal Canin  sponsored the workshop sending out a stack of  goodies which the participants loved (Thank you!!)

A big thank you to Elaine from Tabletop Public School for allowing us to use the grounds for the day. We really appreciate it!

There will be more opportunities to attend days like this as the year goes on

I am hosting 2 very fabulous workshops coming up  on the 16th and 17th of March. Check out the images below and if you would like a place on either day, please contact me and we will make it happen!!!

It’s going to be a fantastic weekend full of lots of great information and laughs. The workshops are running from 9am until 4pm both days. Check in is at 8.30am and our start time is 9am sharp. Please note that due to the information the teachers are presenting, if you are late you will find it difficult to catch up. Please make an effort to be on time!!

ALL attending dogs are to be contained securely in a crate with no exceptions to this rule.

We spent the morning working with the puppies at Puppy Day Care. The kids did an amazing job at teaching them some basic skills. It was incredible to watch how they bonded with the pups and how spot on their timing was! I think there is definitely a few dog trainers amongst that bunch!

Next we headed down to the park where we did some more training and played around using some agility equipment.

Being a part of this experience was such an honour and it was definitely the highlight of my career so far. Words can’t describe how much fun I had and I’m looking forward to working with these guys more in the future!

I’ve been busily working on the website today and have added the new dates and times for classes. You can find them above under Session Times.

For the month of November we are running 2 Good Manners courses. We have one running at the usual time of 9am on a Saturday and we also have an extra one running on Tuesday nights at 6.45pm. Both classes have limited places available so you need to get in quickly!!

I’ve also added a new link called “Media” which is listed above. This is a collection of some of the media articles and clips that we have been involved in  Of special note is our girl Missy who has featured in an article in Octobers issue of Dogs Life. We couldn’t be prouder of her. You can see the article below.

A few months ago we offered to foster a stumpy tailed cattle dog that was going to be put to sleep. I saw a post on the internet with the most depressing photo saying that no one had claimed this old boy and he was going to be put to sleep in the morning.  In the photo he was facing the wall of the pound and the lady who took it said he wouldn’t turn around. I saw the post at about 10pm and started making calls. The next  day he came to our house.

We named the old guy, Jack. When he arrived, he was depressed, underweight, had a huge hot spot on his groin and was obsessive about drinking water. He was not a happy or healthy camper. There were a lot of disagreements in our house during the first week as Jack refused to get along with anyone. He had shut down.

After a week or so he started to come around. We discovered that Jack can work cattle. He loves to work and is constantly looking for direction, which was incredibly difficult given that we had no idea of the commands he had been given previously. He reminds us of a grumpy old man. He loves his naps in the sun and his afternoon snack and god help anyone that wakes him up! He has a very serious personality but when he decides to have fun, he is hilarious!!

After a few months, his health started to decline. This was a few weeks ago. Pete and I decided to adopt him and let him live out the rest of his days with us. He’s very happy just to plod along with us and do his thing. He has a very unique personality.

Since making that decision, his health has improved again. I swear this old guy is going to live forever!! He fits in so well with us and he loves playing with the other dogs. We are so happy to have him around and can’t remember what our house was like before him.

This old boy has had a hard life. I think he has 1 proper tooth left in his head and you can’t see it in this photo but half his lip hangs down from a wound that was never  fixed and it healed funnily.

He loves keeping a watch over things. I often wonder what he is looking for.

Welcome to the family Jack!!

Lots of exciting things coming up including a workshop or two with Brad Griggs from K9 Services International on the first weekend of September which is being hosted by Albury Dog Rescue. We are all super excited to learn some new skills from one of Australias best trainers. Speaking of Albury Dog Rescue, they are currently selling chocolates to raise much needed funds for  the dogs! They are yummy as so make sure you put in your order!!

Have I mentioned yet that I’m teaching 2 classes at Dr Janas Puppy Preschool? We have just re-written the classes for that also. Included in my 2 nights are basic obedience training, behaviour advice and some trick training. We officially have the coolest Puppy Preschool in town! This gorgeous animal is just amazing. Not only does he eat yoghurt and do lots of tricks, he is house trained as well! He had a sleep over at my house on Saturday night and he fit right in with 5 dogs. He slept on a bed in our bedroom and didn’t wake up until we did. He’s very good at letting you know when he needs to go to the toilet! Although he did struggle a little, the dogs were so fascinated they followed him everywhere. Jazz was over it by the end of the weekend.

As a part of his training, we are trying to get him used to large crowds and different environments. So on the weekend, we took him down the street for a coffee. He definitely got lots of attention!! People were doing double-takes!
