For the first breed profile on my site I have chosen the Australian Cattle Dog. Of all the dogs I have worked with, they are my favourite.
Cattle dogs (also known as Blue and Red Heelers) are a long-lived hardy breed.
They are known for being clever and loyal. They are an incredibly active breed and need plenty of mental and physical exercise. They require good socialization from an early age.
They are a loyal dog who can often be cautious of strangers, making a great guard dog.
Their coat is thick and fairly low maintenance requiring a brush maybe once a week.
Because of their high intelligence, they are very responsive to training.
This breed is suited to an active family who exercise daily and are highly motivated to train their dog.
